Made to be carried, not kept.
Cut for a laptop, a folder and nothing else. Every piece carries a lifetime repair.
The Hardy Briefcase
Workshop editorial · 3:2
One hide, four hands, three weeks.
Every piece is cut from a single shoulder so the grain runs the length of the bag. Nothing is glued where it can be stitched, and nothing leaves the bench until the edges are burnished by hand.
Read the storyEverything we promise, in four lines.
Made to order
Three weeks on the bench. Nothing is cut before it is bought, so nothing is ever discounted to clear.
Shipped free, worldwide
Standard shipping is free everywhere. Express is $25 and takes two days once the piece is finished.
Sixty days to change your mind
Return an unused piece within sixty days and we pay the postage. Made to order is no exception.
Repaired for life
Stitching, hardware and edges, for the cost of postage, for as long as you own the piece.
Questions worth asking.
Anything else, write to the workshop and a person will answer.
How long will my order take?
About three weeks on the bench, then shipping. Every piece is cut after you order it, which is why the leather is chosen for your piece rather than picked off a shelf.
What does the lifetime repair cover?
Stitching, hardware and edge finishing, for as long as you own the piece, for the cost of postage. It does not cover a bag that has been cut or burned, and it does not need a receipt — we recognise our own work.
How should I look after the leather?
Brush the dust off, then work a thin coat of balm in with a cloth twice a year. Do not soak it and do not dry it near a radiator. It is meant to mark.
Can I return something made to order?
Yes. Sixty days, postage paid, as long as it is unused. A made-to-order piece is not a special order in the sense that traps you.
Which size briefcase should I buy?
Measure the laptop, not the bag. The 13" carries a 13" machine and an A4 folder; the 15" adds a charger and a notebook. Full dimensions sit on each product page.
Twelve pieces a season. No sales, ever.
We write once a season — when the new cut is on the bench and when the archive opens. Nothing else.
